When is BioXclude Contraindicated?
Because BioXclude is minimally-manipulated placental tissue, there are not many contraindications.

In genreal, if you should not be grafting, then do not apply BioXclude in: (1) areas with active or latent infection; and/or (2) patients with a disorder that would create an unacceptable risk of post-operative complications.

Additionally, aminoglycoside antibiotics are used in the early phase of tissue later in processing. The processor must list this on the IFU in the event that any detectable amount of antibiotic remaining could elicit an allergic response. This amount would be considerably lower than any detectable amount which would rise to the concentration of an effective dose capable of killing bacteria. As such, caution should be used when treating patients with a known sensitivity to these antibiotics.

The aminoglycosides are broad-spectrum, bactericidal antibiotics that are commonly prescribed for children, primarily for infections caused by Gram-negative pathogens.

Examples of US aminoglycodide antibiotics: Gentamycin; Tobramycin; Neomycin; Streptomycin.

How Long Does it Take For BioXclude to Resorb?
8-12 Weeeks as demonstrated with histology. This answer is not a simple one, however. BioXclude is truly a paradigm shift in resorption kinetics. BioXclude is bioactive, recruitin mesenchymal stem cells to the site, and differtiating between hard and soft tissues before the matrix resorbs. Once established, the faster resorption profile is ideal, allowing the body's preriosteum to take over faster.

How long is resorption when left exposed? There is no official answer - there are just too many variables (i.e., diet, habits such as smoking, etc.). However it is known that BioXclude has demonstrated for nearly a decade that it performs perfectly when left exposed, with consistent results.
