July BioXclude Case of the Month by Dr. Tyler Borg

Check out our July BioXclude Case of The Month. Last fall we began showcasing some of the amazing cases clinicians are sharing with Snoasis Medical. After receiving feedback to continue to showcase and highlight cases, we will continue to share a new case each month. This month’s Case of The Month was shared by one of our Key Opinion Leaders from Colorado, Dr. Tyler D. Borg.

Tyler Borg
DDS, MS
Dr. Tyler D. Borg attended the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine where he served as Class and Student Body President. While at The University of Colorado, Dr. Borg was awarded the American Academy of Periodontology Award, The American Academy of Implant Dentistry Award, The Academy of Osseointegration Award, The Colorado Dental Association Student Excellence Award, and completed research on dental implants.

Dr. Borg completed his specialty training in Periodontics at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and received a master’s degree in Dental Science. At The University of Texas Dr. Borg conducted clinical research in bone grafting and dental implants. Dr. Borg is the recipient of the John F. Prichard Award for excellence in clinical research from the Southwest Society of Periodontists, as well as the Kenneth D. Rudd award for completion of over 100 hours of continuing education annually. Dr. Borg is the recipient of the Maria Yueng Research Award from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and the AAP Foundation Robert S. Schoor Award. Dr. Borg is a 5280 Magazine Top Periodontist.

Today we are pleased to showcase this nasopalatine duct cyst repair case from Dr. Tyler Borg.

This patient presented with a large radiolucency which was originally referred for endodontic evaluation. All teeth tested vital and as such, the patient was referred for evaluation, which included CBCT imaging. A presumptive diagnosis of nasopalatine duct cyst was determined, and the area was accessed for biopsy. Subsequent to obtaining the biopsy specimen, the area was grafted with combination allograft and an amnion-chorion membrane. Final histopathologic report confirmed the presumptive diagnosis was correct. Clinical wound healing and post-operative CBCT show complete alveolar regeneration and minimal impact to the surrounding teeth and periodontium.
